Accessibility
A site that adapts to the people using it. We design tools for blind and deaf people, for older people and for people with cognitive needs: our own site has to be the first example.

You will always find them at the top right, under the icon with the human figure. Your choices are saved on your own device.

Text size
Three sizes. The layout adapts, nothing overlaps.

High-legibility typeface
Atkinson Hyperlegible, designed by the Braille Institute for people with low vision.

More spacious text
More space between lines, words and letters.
Reading
- 04
Read aloud
Reads the page, or only the text you have selected, with a voice from your device. It highlights the paragraph being read; you can pause or stop it.

Reading guide
A light band follows the pointer and darkens the rest of the page, so you do not lose your line.
Colours and images

High contrast
Solid black on solid white (or the other way round, with the dark theme) and stronger borders.

Greyscale
Removes colour from the whole page, for people who find bright colours tiring or distracting.

Hide images
Photos and videos disappear and leave their space empty, with their description when there is one. Text, logos and links stay where they are.

Highlight links and focus
Links always underlined, and a thick outline around the element you are on when using the keyboard.

Large cursor
A bigger mouse pointer, black with a white border, visible on any background.

Stop animations
Animated backgrounds, autoplay videos and scrolling stop. It also applies if your device asks for reduced motion.
These tools help, but on their own they do not make a site accessible: what counts is how it is built. Headings in order, enough contrast, everything usable from the keyboard, alternative text for images, less movement for those who ask for it.
02 How it is built
- Every page has a single main heading and an orderly heading structure that screen readers can follow.
- Everything can be used from the keyboard: menus, galleries, filters, timeline. There is a Skip to content link.
- Images that carry information have alternative text; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
- No video starts with sound. Autoplay videos are muted and stop when they leave the screen.
- Light and dark themes, and text that can be resized up to 200% without losing content.
03 What still does not work
- The photos in the project galleries still have a generic description: we are writing them one by one.
- Not all the videos hosted on YouTube have subtitles.
- Read aloud uses the voices on your device: if there is none for a language (this often happens with Arabic), it has to be added in the system settings.
We prefer to say so: an honest list of limits is worth more than a perfect statement.
